Today’s Prompt: Where did you live when you were 12 years old? Which town, city, and country? Was it a house or an apartment? A boarding school or foster home? An airstream or an RV? Who lived there with you?
The year was 1981, I lived in a house in SW Los Angeles, California with my parents and younger brother. Our house was the spot where the neighborhood kids gravitated. Lively games of tag, football, rounders, and many others were played here. My imagination thrived there. I was fortunate enough to be granted my own room. I dreamed here. My backyard was where I lived out all my fantasies. At night, I was sit on the ground in the covered patio my father built and listen to a mystery program on the old standing radio. I spent a lot of time in my backyard daydreaming. Most times, I would lay in the grass and look up at the sky. I was making some great plan. I escaped most days. I cherished what little free time I had which seldom came. That house was something special and will always hold a place in my heart.
