Since I have change in my way of thinking certain things irritate me. One of those things being the way that people sometimes refer to a particular natural style as “dread” locs. It`s the actual word dread that conjures a negative connotation.
Dread is defined as something that is terrible, extremely bad or unpleasant, to fear greatly, terror , apprehension….these are not positive words. This is not how I would want to describe my hair or anything else about me. Nothing about natural hair is dreadful. The hair “locs”, binds, forms, interlinks….this to me symbolizes a unity of sorts. For this reason I choose to call them locs always have always will. Expand your mind.
