Today’s assignment: follow five new topics in the Reader and five new blogs.
Why spend time reading other blogs?
- Publishing posts is only half of blogging — engaging with the community is the other.
- Considering what other bloggers write will inspire you and sharpen your thoughts.
Feel free to publish a post in addition to completing today’s task if you’d like! Write the post that was on your mind when you decided to start a blog, or take a look at our blogging prompts for more inspiration.
I took a chance and followed today’s assignment. Five new topics & five new blogs. Hopefully the stream won’t become too overwhelming to the point that I won’t get to all the new blog posted.
What was on my mind when I decided to start a blog?
Interesting question. I actually used to co-blog with a good friend of mine, Zaye, on his blog before I started my own. He would blog on a particular topic then I would come along and add my thoughts. He decided to close the blog one day. I thought that I had some great things to say so I decided to start my own blog. That’s it in a nutshell. My first post was January 1, 2001. I attempted to post that day and for whatever reason what I thought was on the screen when I hit publish disappeared and I had to begin again. In my frustration, I gave up and I didn’t post anything serious until January 21, 2001. If you’re curious, you can go to the “archives” menu on the right of this post and then select “January 2001”. The title of the post is “Plans & Decisions”. I didn’t know where my writing would take me at the time. After all that time, I am still here clickity clicking at the keys.
