Poetry – Day 6

The Night’s Alive

Shadows along the wall keeping me awake
The noises I continue to hear
Buzzing every five minutes
The wind whistling keeping me awake
I lay wide eyed wondering what sound I will hear next
As I lift the blanket higher, my toes start to peek out further and further
My mind races why now why tonight
Was that a footstep I heard?
A door slams in the distance
Loud yelling then glass crashes to the floor
Can anyone else hear these things besides me?
Suddenly I feel myself falling
I try to catch myself
I feel like I cannot catch my breath
I am jolted mid-fall
Only to realize I was already asleep
